East Yorkshire MP Greg Knight is sponsoring a Parliamentary motion welcoming Government investment in the National Cyber Security Centre and calling on businesses and the public to become more cyber-aware, as cyber-attacks and scams have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The motion, which has gained cross-party support, highlights the importance of being ‘cyber-aware’ and promotes the Cyber Essentials scheme, a Government-backed, industry-supported plan to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats.
Sir Greg said: “Unfortunately online scams, cyber-attacks from abroad and malware haven’t taken a break during this pandemic. Now, more than ever, businesses and members of the public need to be aware of online threats”.
He added: “Government campaigns which increase our vigilance is money is well spent because public information campaigns are an essential component in the battle to put these online crooks out of business”.
