I send my deep condolences to the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty The Queen
When I served as Vice Chamberlain of the Royal Household, I met the Queen on numerous occasions, sometimes on a one-to-one basis. She was a remarkable person -compassionate, always calm and completely dedicated to serving this country.
She had a glint in her eye and had a tremendous sense of humour. After the serious issue of state business was dealt with, she was always interested in hearing about what was going on in Parliament. She was both charming and amusing.
I feel a deep sense of loss, and like most people I have spoken to, I feel as if I have lost a close relative. As a Nation, we were truly blessed to have her as our Queen.
May God bless her and may she rest in peace.
Long live the King!
