Greg Warns on Stamp Price Rise

East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight is one of a number of MPs backing a parliamentary motion expressing concern over the proposed hike in the price of postage stamps.

From next month the cost of first-class stamps will be increased to £1.10, up 15p from 95p, while second-class stamps will increase to 75p, up 7p from 68p.

Sir Greg said: “In the middle of the cost-of-living crisis, this rise unwanted price hike of over 15% for first class stamps will hit pensioners, low-income earners and those small businesses that rely on the post the hardest”.

“Pricing people out of the postal system is not a good way forward and it benefits no one in the long-term, least of all Royal Mail”

“This increase should be deferred” he adds.
